The Chapel Hill Museum, located in downtown Chapel Hill, preserves, exhibits and interprets the history and culture of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and the surrounding region. There are currently 12 exhibits of different scope and size. The two main exhibit halls feature changing exhibits on about a 6 week to 2 month cycle. It also features a gift shop and a bookstore. Free parking.

Morehead Planetarium

The first planetarium to be built on a U.S. college, Morehead features a 68-foot planetarium dome Star Theater, the NASA Digital Theater, exhibits, the UNC Visitor's Center, art galleries, a rose garden and a massive sundial. N.C. Botanical Garden

Horace Williams House

On the death of Horace Williams, the University of North Carolina became the sole owner of the house named for him. Restored in 1974, the house is maintained by the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill as a cultural resource and art exhibition space. It has been owned by a succession of University professors since the historic 19th century house began as a farm house.

COKER ARBORETUM

Coker Arboretum, a quiet haven in the middle of the busy University of North Carolina campus, is the heart of one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation. Managed by the N. C. Botanical Garden, it is one of the Garden's oldest tracts. Created in 1903, it contains more than 500 species of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. Free admission.
