DUKE LEMUR CENTER

This research, conservation and education center houses 250 prosimian primates and the largest population of lemurs outside of their native Madagascar. Lemurs Live! Tours year round by appointment only Mon-Sat. No walk-in visitors. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for 60+ and children 3-12. Other tours and interactions include Walking with Lemurs, Behind the Scenes and Painting with Lemurs.

There are currently 12 exhibits of different scope and size. The two main exhibit halls feature changing exhibits on about a 6 week to 2 month cycle. It also features a gift shop and a bookstore. Pullen Park

After being closed for renovations, Raleigh's oldest amusement park is now re-opened with a spiffed up carousel house for its 1911 historic Dentzel Carousel, train station with its C.P. Huntington miniature train, concessions building and welcome center. The 66-acre park also houses the Pullen Arts and Aquatic Centers, along with swing, climb and slide, sand and water, and preschool play areas.

N.C. State Capitol

Morehead Planetarium

The first planetarium to be built on a U.S. college, Morehead features a 68-foot planetarium dome Star Theater, the NASA Digital Theater, exhibits, the UNC Visitor's Center, art galleries, a rose garden and a massive sundial. Historic Yates Mill County Park

This 174-acre park features hiking trails, Historic Yates Mill, Wake County's last remaining gristmill and its 20-acre pond. The old water-powered mill (circa 1756) is fully restored and operable and is an outstanding record of the evolution of early industry in the lower Piedmont region of North Carolina. The park is open daily 8am-sunset for hiking, picknicking and fishing. Winter it is open 8am-5pm.
